What If....
Background
I love this song by Laufey, partly because it really made captures what I found hard to do.
With how the world is moving right now, it's kinda hard to really just slow down and enjoy it all,
I mean what are we rushing towards; I wish I could do just that.
I have this nasty
habbit of mine, well I had that is; I was always in a rush, I felt left behind, I couldn't
enjoy life. I lived by that old African Mantra that's slowly destroying us from underneath;
That of working hard and doing just that, rest would come later, now that I think of it,
Is there any rest for us later, anyways this wasn't a philosophical post;
I had a crisis, not a midlife one, though, I'm not that old yet. I keep on having them actually.
It drove my esteem down, I got depressed. I didn't tell anyone about it, of course; I mean why
would I. Who would I tell it to ? I think part of the problem was my insistance on staying
indoors. Also my being chronic online, especially on the worst platform to do this
Reddit.
I met people going through the same problem, issue was the sub seemed to make it seem like
that was actually a flex, something to be proud of. I must admit that, I actually believed
that, like it was this new identity of mine. It was crazy, I'm sure most of my tiny amount
of readers have gone through this.
bythaway if you read my blogs( 2 of the currently), just know that I am grateful. XD
Stats
This blog
has a couple of stats on this, particularly for the youths.
This other one
from https://nihcm.org/ indicates that
1 in 5 adolescents have a current mental or behavioral health diagnosis
Depression, anxiety, behavioral disorders, and trauma- and
stressor-related disorders are among the most common diagnoses.
50% of lifetime mental illnesses begin by age 14 and 75% by 24.
Effects
Some of the effects I went through were;
: - Depression as I've mentioned before
- Low self esteem
- Nihilism and hopelessness
- ( I didn't go through this) Extremist type of escapism such as offing one's self
The idea
It's simple enough, It's just a community of volunteers who
will provide a safe place for people undergoing such;
People in this situation can call them when they need someone
to just hear what they are going through.
And yeah that's just the gist of it,
if anyone is willing to make this a reality just
email me brandonchumo@yahoo.com
Also guys this is among my first blogs, so I hope with time
I can improve my writing. Have any thoughts on this blog,
I'd love to hear from you.
